Vielo Sports of Gateshead has launched an all-new eponymous bike brand and its first model is the versatile V+1.

Billed as a ‘Road Plus’ bike that’s meant for “poorly maintained British roads,” the V+1 is a boutique, carbon disc machine that takes 1× drivetrains only.

It’s aimed at the rider “who wants to combine a bit of fun riding on gravel or loose forest roads without the heavy weight of a hardtail mountain bike.”

The V+1’s frame weighs a claimed 890g for a medium (UD carbon weave) and the matching carbon fork is 400g. The bike has clearances for 700×42mm or 650b×2.1in rubber.

It looks to be somewhat in the vein of the Whyte Wessex, or perhaps the 3T Exploro given its clearances, but with the added bonus of some subtle mudguard mounts (hurrah!) and the potential to run a dropper post for truly rowdy all-roading.

Vielo has another bike in the works which should be available around July, and which is biased towards slightly skinnier 30mm tyres.

The first V+1s are expected to hit dealers in February, with framesets retailing at £2,999 and complete bikes starting at £5,299 with Vielo carbon bars and seatpost. Head over to vielo.cc for more.
