The Castelli Aero Race 5.1 jersey is aimed at the racer who wants top performance with the fastest wind cheating materials to save every last watt.
It’s lightweight with a body hugging race cut but remains comfortable. It uses Castelli’s aerodynamic dimpled fabric on the front and side panels along with its wide Mesh 3D fabric on the back.
This combination is not only fast but also super breathable, and performs brilliantly in the heat. I liked the longer arms with the comfy sitting mesh arm bands that hold them in place.
There’s ample stash space with three rear pockets and while the material remains thin here they hold big loads without issue.
Other neat touches include a low sit collar and an easy grab zip extender on the full-length front zip. The 5.1 fits and sits well, and has proved durable despite feeling delicate.
It is among the best aero jerseys I have tested, and at this price isn’t outrageously priced.
