Our review
Impressive race performance and fit with a price tag to match

Pros:

Waterproofing, breathability, fit, weight, comfort

Cons:

The initial outlay is high

The light yet robust Sportful Stelvio was developed with professional road team Team Tinkoff for racing and fast training in the rain, ice and snow. As such, it comes with a tailored race fit so most of us mortals will probably need to size up.

The stretchy RainWick fabric, which was developed specifically for Sportful in Japan, is cut to sit well in the riding position and seals well all round. I welcomed the long tail that sits in place however long you’re in the saddle.

In bad weather it does a top job of keeping the wet stuff out and breathes superbly. Sportful says it has a waterproof figure of 20,000mm and a breathability of 50,000 g/m2/24hrs, which is impressive and in line with how I found it performed out on the road in bad weather.

I liked that the large tooth front zip, which features a draft flap, is easy to operate with one hand on the fly. There’s also a neat double stitched cuff design that works well with gloves to keep you dry. Add to this it’s light and small packing and you have an impressive package, but it doesn’t come cheap.
