The big, camera-equipped Explorist is great for cyber-orienteering, but bulk, a fragile bike mount and the high price leave it rather lost on the road.
It runs on easily changed AA batteries and is certainly well protected. A good job too, as one knee clout during a mid-corner slip and correction was enough to snap the bike mount in half.
A basic road map is included, OS upgrade options are quite good value, and downloading GPX files via Mac or PC is fairly simple, but the low res 3.2MP camera is primarily for geocaching rather than snapshots en route.
