Well-made computer with plenty of functions

If you run high power LED lights then you’re going to love this new computer from German manufacturers VDO.

We tried this one next to a bunch of lights, and apart from our DStar-LED – an 1800 lumen a beast of a light – it worked with everything.

The trick is that the internal components most vulnerable to inductive interference are well shielded. It also features VDO’s Double Wireless system, receiving the speed information from the sensor on the 2.4ghz wavelength, while the cadence information is received on the 5ghz wavelength. Both transmissions from the sensors are digitally encoded too.

It’s easy to fit, reasonably easy to set up, and in operation the buttons were just about big enough to use with gloves on. The display is a little on the small side with a lot of information on it, but the symbols are clear enough and easy to read.

Key features include: current speed; trip counter; average speed; maximum speed; stopwatch; countdown timer; cadence; time trial timer with variable distance; wake-up alarm; variable wake-up and reminder alarm clock.
