The deep heel-cup and the top ratchet strap that run close to the curve between ankle and foot make these a shoe you will either love, or not get on with at all.
The sole is good, and the vents under the toe and behind the cleat area, allied to an ample toe-box, actually work and are very welcome on hot rides.
The middle Velcro strap that runs over the lightly padded tongue on our left test shoe managed to separate itself into two parts during testing – not something we’ve ever seen on a Specialized shoe before as all we’ve ever had is excellent build quality and durability.
Specialized have been at the forefront of women-specific kit and this shoe has clearly been made with a women’s last.
The ratcheting buckle works well – regardless of whether you like its position or not – and the stiffness of the fibreglass reinforced sole is just right for all-day big rides.
