Say hello to Specialized’s new top-of-the-range cross-country race shoe, as rocked by their entire race team, including World Champion Christoph Sauser.
Although not the lightest shoes at just over 750g a pair, they offer amazing adjustability and comfort. Engineered around Spesh’s Body Geometry (BG) technology, the goal is for every rider to tailor the fit of their shoe to their feet.
First you get the option of narrow, standard or wide fit. You can then experiment with various insoles and shims to get exactly the right position for your feet. Once that’s sorted, the patented X-Link system lets you adjust the shoes’ closure.
Aside from the BG adjustments, you also get a super-stiff carbon midsole, micromatrix uppers and thermoplastic rubber outsoles.
As we mentioned before, they’re not the lightest shoes but they more than make up for it in comfort. The BG Pros clamp around your ankle really snugly and once you get the right insole, they feel like slippers.
Due to the mesh uppers, though, they are about as watertight as slippers too, but then these are race shoes. Power transfer is second to none thanks to the carbon soles and all-day comfort comes as standard.
