Our review
Great for riding, walking (and running) and long days out on the bike

Pros:

Good fit adjustment and venting

Cons:

Stiff out of the box

Pearl Izumi's X-Alp shoe might have been designed for mountain biking but works just as well for all-road rides and can handle time off the bike too.

The sole is very flexible for a riding shoe and has a dual density tread that provides decent grip in dry conditions.

The running shoe-like EVA foam heel makes these comfortable shoes great for walking and running too.

The upper shape of the shoes is very generous, while the combination of single Boa and toe-box Velcro strap provides for decent fit adjustment.

Venting on the toe box is also good and the toe protector is substantial.

Generous interior padding makes the X-Alp feel very much like a running shoe, even though out of the box the upper feels quite stiff, but after breaking them in a little they proved to be supremely comfortable over long days out on the bike.

The shoes are available in either this bright lime green and black design or black and grey, and are SPD compatible.
