Lake have a different take on the Boa lacing system from most shoe makers, using their cable lace over the whole shoe, so that it holds your foot into the heel cup as well as tensioning the top of the shoe. It’s a system that’s simple, easy to use and allows you to remove the shoe almost instantly by pulling the dial outwards.
The placement of the dial also protects it from any crash damage and gives the shoe a tidy look that’s probably more aerodynamic. Racers should look elsewhere for footwear though – these aren’t especially stiff. But they’re exceptionally comfortable and would be great for long rides and sportives.
