Carbon dioxide inflators aren’t to everyone’s liking – there’s still something a little scary about using pressurised gas to pump up tyres.
If any pump can convert doubters, though, it’s the Proflate. The intelligent Presta/Schrader valve is trigger operated and it’s easy to modulate flow. The plastic case acts both as protective storage for a full threadless cartridge and prevents frostbite as the CO2 discharges.
The case also locks automatically so it can’t be opened with a live canister inside, and with the valve cover closed the trigger won’t work either. A tab on the rear indicates whether your cartridge has any gas left, and it’s easy to use with one hand.
