We're not quite sure why this is called the Road helmet because it has more of a mountain bike style, especially with its low back and peak. We're not complaining though, and really like the deep protection at the rear.
The vents are small but that's not a real problem at lower speeds when overheating is less likely. The helmet is also very light and even beats the expensive race helmets at the weigh-in.
That doesn't mean it's a delicate lid and the tough, matt finished, in-moulded outer takes regular knocks. The head cradle is simple yet effective and sits really low. The visor completes the street style looks and comes in really useful.
There's a lot to be said for no-nonsense budget helmets when it comes to the hard life of a regular commute.
Commuting helmets have to do two jobs: protect your noggin and cope with being bashed around between journeys. The TSG Road helmet fulfils both those requirement and looks pretty streetwise as a bonus.
