POC’s Omne Air SPIN helmet has a variable density EPS core for specific protection. It retains a compact profile with a neatly moulded outer shell covering most of the EPS, but leaving much of the base unprotected.
The 360-degree retention system’s rotary dial acts on a band encircling the head, for great security, and adjusts by four heights.
It has a great all-over fit for my round head and sits reassuringly low on the temples and brow.
The SPIN (Shearing Pad INside) pads have a patent-pending, silicone gel-like membrane within them that should minimise rotational brain injuries and are very comfortable.
Its straps are easy to adjust and separate around the ears well, and my large example weighs 342g.
There are 10 generous vents. Five forward-facing vents are supplemented by aligned indentations in the EPS rim ahead of the brow pad, inviting more air into the five huge internal channels.
The vents exit at the top of the helmet’s rear and don’t continue to the very back, leaving the rear (aside from two openings) enclosed.
Airflow is even and strong, and although the covered mid-section reduces the ventilated area, the POC feels cool at all speeds. The outer vents are designed for stowing your glasses.
It has great fit and security, innovative safety, plus impressive ventilation, all in an attractive package.
