It says a lot for the general hike in TT helmet prices that a lid this pricey looks like a good value option.
- Pros: Good ventilation and fit, stable
- Cons: Compromised vision
Catlike's Chrono WT ticks off all the standard features you’d expect, with a pluggable vent, dial retention system and a vented fixed visor. A hard case and dark visor are available separately.
In the wind tunnel the Catlike was mid-pack in both positions – decent but it will cost you half a minute over 40km compared with the best.
In a low position on the road your vision is disrupted by the brow of the shell and the drilled visor vents, and also by the thick rubber nose trim when you glance down at your Garmin.
The large vent gives good airflow and the Chrono is stable at high speed and over bumps. The new, shorter Catlike Rapide will take over as the range-topper soon but the Chrono WT will continue to be sold.
