The Cone Head shape fits fine with most skulls, and the dual density EPS liner is protected with a multi piece in-mould hardshell complete with separate reinforcing plugs on the two largest side vents. Unlike most cheap helmets the lower rim also gets a hardshell for scuff/accidental drop protection.
The rear cradle is single height, but there’s a big pad to stop occipital pressure points under the soft-touch dial. Most of our testers got on just fine with it.
The straps anchor into the edge of the helmet making it easy to flip them outwards to put it on. The clip lock buckle gets a cam lock on the double back strap for extra security too.
The broad, low peak is potentially a great glare and rain shield for regular trail riding. If you’re heading for the mountains you’ll need to reinforce the side anchors with zip ties or a Velcro tab to stop the wind grabbing it and making it flap and rattle at high speeds though.
Otherwise big vents, internal channeling and loads of exhaust ports make it breezier than a lot of comparable helmets, to seal its value-winner status.
