Not perfect, but decent quality for the money

Wilkinson have been making decent quality, low cost wheels for bike shop backroom repairs for years – but this wheelset is good enough to come out from behind the counter.

The Omega rim is on the narrow side, with a 13mm internal width that can pinch tyres at the base and make them feel harsher than normal. They’re heavy too, at over 2kg for the pair, and our set also had a slight notch at the unwelded joint, though not big enough to notice through the brakes.

But the 3-cross, 32-spoke build quality is rock solid, the Shimano Tiagra hubs smooth-spinning, adjustable at home and they have great skewers.
