The TriMax TC50 was one of the earliest wider-rim runners and this well-priced tubular wheelset has obvious handling benefits to make it a great all-rounder for glue-on tyre fans. The slightly rounded 23mm rim keeps weight reasonable for keen acceleration and altitude gain, and the hand-built construction is tight and true, with totally obedient, largely wind-ignorant handling at all speeds.
FSA’s Vision hubs are well proven and smooth running too, and doubled-up driveside spoking means decent drive response. Carbon quick-release skewers, brake pads, valve extenders and carry bags are included in the bargain package, and 10/11-speed freehubs are on the way. If you want clinchers, Vision’s new CSIs are a proper bargain at £700.
