Our review
Not cheap but easy sealing, lively riding tubeless wheels with a comprehensive kit Buy if, You want a lively ride in a versatile ‘everything included’ package

Pros:

Lively feel, easy tubeless set up, comprehensive spares kit

Cons:

Price is relatively high

The Sun Ringle Duroc isn’t just a wider version of an existing wheel, it uses a whole new hub set too. Several months of hard hammer have proved it’s a tough and well balanced contender though.

The SRX hubs have lasted well too, with the bearings still running sweet after half a year of high mileage and zero maintenance

The 40mm rim (50mm also available) comes with custard coloured sealing tape pre-fitted, plus valves and two bottles of sealant to complete the job. Fitting is easy and small bead humps create a more secure fit at lower pressures and they blow up fine with a track pump.

While overall weight is average, the straight-pull Wheelsmith double-butted spokes are tight and even to give a lively feel that encourages you to push rather than plod on the trail.

Ten-degree freehub engagement keeps them prompt under power and they’re accurate without being harsh. We’ve not dented or knocked them out of line either despite some serious slams.

The SRX hubs have lasted well too, with the bearings still running sweet after half a year of high mileage and zero maintenance. While they come fitted with a standard Shimano splined freehub, a SRAM XD driver is included in the box. The alloy body does need a well tightened cassette to stop gouging of the splines though.
