We expected a flawless build quality from these FSAs, with their artisan credentials – but our test pair weren’t that evenly tensioned. Otherwise this is an impressive package, with a carbon-wrapped front hub shell and logos visible from space – and there’s an all-black version too.

The sloping brake track is over 26mm across at its widest, the shape blending neatly with our 25mm test boots; given that they’re also 55mm deep, the FSAs are huge. They feel faster than their weight would suggest and in crosswinds the rim section is remarkably predictable for its size. Braking power and feel is good too.
