The EX1501 is DT Swiss’s top-end alloy wheelset for enduro riding. It’s a common choice among enduro racers and is often stocked on high-end trail/enduro bikes and with good reason.
Because of their popularity among OEMs, we’ve put time into several sets here at BikeRadar, and have consistently been impressed.
DT Swiss EX 1501 Spline One 30 ride impressions
They’re not the lightest, and the 36 points of engagement freehub ratchet is unlikely to win top-trumps points for speedy power pickup either. But, realistically, they’re light enough to match the responsiveness of anything any of the other wheelsets I tested and the relatively slow (ten degree) freehub engagement never bothered me either.
You can upgrade the freehub ratchet to a faster 54-tooth version if you like and the stock ratchet has proven reliable and is easy to service.
I’ve put a lot of time into these wheels and they’ve proven tough and reliable, although one set needed truing after some serious abuse.
Ride feel is about as good as anything else I've tested recently too, though you’d be hard pressed to really notice the difference over the cheaper E 1900.
