We used the original Closer a lot as a tough, high traction ‘control’ tyre for wheel testing, but this is our first test of the Closer Plus.
Panaracer’s entire road line has been slightly upsized for much easier fitting/removal. The Plus puncture belt is also allegedly four times more protective than the already good original and it’s certainly proved invulnerable so far.
The very generous 25mm carcass means a super-smooth ride on rough roads and you can really throw it around without coming unstuck. The grip does reduce rolling speed slightly on smooth roads but they’re still light enough to accelerate well.
