We'd not heard of the Medusa before MMA raved about ripping up the laps at the muddy Bontrager Twentyfour12 enduro race, but now we're fans.
The tread pattern couldn't be simpler – loads of wide-spaced, short but sharp-edged knobs that grip like a football boot in grassy, sloppy or boggy conditions but spit out heavy mud in seconds.
The rounded carcass makes it easy to lean into corners; it slides on hard surfaces but it's much more controllable than wobbling round on top of a tall, square-profile spiked tyre.
It's also surprisingly fast, and although the 2.1in version is a comfortable choice for trail work, the 1.8in is a fantastic, minimal weight, max-control, zero-clog race choice.
