Looking for serious speed for wet races or mixing it with the cyclo cross race boys in winter? Geax have got it covered. Using a mixed paddle and square stud tread on a very narrow carcass, the Barro Mud cuts deep and cleared very quickly even through the stickiest parts of 'Slurry Alley'.
The nervous feel and hard compound takes some getting used to diving into corners and it slithers on roots and rocks at the high pressures it needs to survive. It certainly needed skill and nerve to nurse it even halfway through 'Wet Wood' and 'Rocky Horror'.
The upside is minimal straight line drag on hard surfaces or through foot-deep filth. At only 430g it spools up to speed quickly making this the fastest tyre on test by a long stretch. It leaves acres of mud space in even the tightest frames so it'll be the last tyre here to jam up. Unlike other narrow tyres it's not too tight fitting, so it's not a nightmare to change tubes if you puncture (like we did in 'Rocky Horror').
