Continental Cross-Country 1.5in review

Continental Cross-Country 1.5in review

The alternate diagonal paddle tread is low enough to clean fast and, combined with smaller shoulder studs, it finds some bite in most mucky conditions. Its real party piece is how deep the ultra narrow 1.5in carcass cuts to find hard contact

Brilliant super narrow, super light, super fast race tyre, but beware rocks and roots

The alternate diagonal paddle tread is low enough to clean fast and, combined with smaller shoulder studs, it finds some bite in most mucky conditions.

Its real party piece is how deep the ultra narrow 1.5in carcass cuts to find hard contact and the amount of mud space it leaves between the tyre and frame.

The skinny profile minimises speed loss in sludge or on fireroads and the feather weight maximises acceleration, making this a fantastic winter race/MTB cyclocross tyre. On the other hand, it also makes handling feel sketchy, particularly on loose gravel or wet rock/ roots - and it pinch punctures easily on rocks or edges so pump it up hard.
