Syncros’s AM post is forged from 2014 aluminium, with the shaft and head made as one piece for maximum strength. The clamp uses a single transverse bolt – it’s a little fiddly to fit the saddle but easy to adjust. Most importantly, it holds the saddle securely, with no slips or creaks.
The 5mm of layback splits the difference between inline and traditional layback posts and should accommodate most riding positions. At a claimed 259g for a 27.2x400mm post the AM is a decent weight for a mountain bike post.
Its 400mm length is useful, too – increasing numbers of bikes are using low-slung frames and relying on long posts to get the right saddle height. We like the Syncros trademark hole at the bottom of the post that lets you pull it out and pass a lock through.
