Reliable long-drop seatpost with a great remote lever Buy if, You want a long drop dropper and silky smooth cable routing

Pros:

Great lever adjustability, easy saddle fitting, smooth action

Cons:

Fiddly set-up takes time and patience

This new 160mm-drop version of the Crankbrothers Highline is one of the longest-travel posts on the market.

Setting it up requires patience, because balancing the inner and outer cable tension is fiddly and the instructions aren’t great. Fully internal cable runs seem to make things trickier still, and if you adjust the post’s height in the frame you need to make sure the outer cable moves exactly as the post does to avoid it sinking through its travel.

Once set up, the Highline has a smooth action. There’s a slight bit of rotational play but I didn’t have any problems with my sample post sagging during testing.

The sealed cartridge design means that, other than the occasional lube, there’s little that needs doing to keep the post running smoothly. It’s a shame that the slow-ish return speed can’t be sped up though.

Position the svelte lever at whatever angle you like Immediate Media

Crankbrothers’ seatpost head is one of the best out there; easy to mount a saddle to and with a low stack height.

The bar-mounted remote is another highlight. Its ball-like body and slimline bar clamp allow you to position the svelte lever at whatever angle you like, over or under the bar. I also like that the cut end of the cable is at the lever.

It comes with a three-year warranty, and Crankbrothers offers 125mm and 100mm versions of the post too, if your legs or frame require a shorter drop.
