Chromag saddles were everywhere at this year’s Interbike show in Vegas. The company is relatively unknown in the UK but, if the Trailmaster is anything to by, that won’t be the case for long. It’s on the spendy side for a cro-mo railed model, but it does have a leather cover and feels like it’s tailormade for the sort of day-long riding most people do at trail centres.
The seat has an instantly plush feel and the central pressure channel is deep and effective. That channel depth does make for quite a pronounced ridge either side of the central dip though, so make sure it hits in the right place.
The slight rise at the rear makes for secure seated climbs and the soft padded nose is just right for moving forwards on steeper sections, or providing good control on long descents. If you like your XC riding with a hint of freeride then give this saddle a whirl. A full suspension mount would be our pairing of choice.
