These M-Force pedals are SPD-compatible, so if you’re used to SPDs, these work in much the same way and are easy to use. These are Xpedo’s top mountain bike pedals, and come with ti axles and bodies, weighing in at just 216g for the pair, which is part of the reason why they cost as much as they do (nearly £160).
They’re available with steel axles too, because there’s an 85kg rider weight limit on the ti spindles. Each pedal runs on three cartridge bearings, a system which has proved to work just fine. The minimal design helps to shed mud, and make the pedals really easy to clean because there’s nowhere for dirt to get trapped. It also contributes to the amount of float, but power transfer is still pretty good.
We were somewhat surprised when the M-Force’s blazed through the whole test period, with no issues. These are some pedals we could really rely on to be able to clip in and go.
