Shimano's 105 pedals take many of the great features from the top of the range Dura-Ace models, are less than half the price, but only weigh 50g more.
There’s a large lightweight platform for efficient power transfer and good support, yet the low profile design offers plenty of cornering clearance. It’s good to see stainless body plates filtering all the way down to 105, and getting in and out of these couldn’t be simpler.
At this price and performance this pedal offers amazing value. The 105 delivers all the reliable performance of the classic budget pedal but also has a road race performance to match any race pedal. If you’re not bothered by a bit of excess weight then the 105 will more than suit.
The cleats feature wear indicators that double up for a bit of extra grip and they also last a long time compared to similar resin cleats. Servicing is also very easy. We’ve given these nearly a full year’s test and they’ve given us no problems whatsoever, and we’re still on the original cleats.
