Bontrager King Earl Pedals review

There are countless flat pedals around but the King Earls are well worth a look. The 6061 CNC body is heat treated, with the chromoly axle running on three bearings per side.

Nice pedals but dearer than the obvious competition

There are countless flat pedals around but the King Earls are well worth a look. The 6061 CNC body is heat treated, with the chromoly axle running on three bearings per side. We've been kicking around on them for several months on and off and they're still spinning smoothly with no sign of any wonkiness despite tackling some big drops.

The scooped centre gets your foot nice and low on the spindle with 16 stainless steel hollow- point pins that can be threaded in and out to tune grip. The sockets are in the heads of the pins though, so they'll get blocked or bent eventually.

The anodised finish is tough and the weight is reasonable at 666g, but the price is high compared with the well proven opposition from the likes of DMR and Azonic.
