Some things on your bike should be made from metal, and your stem is one of them. Nothing really comes close to a metal tube for torsional stiffness.
The Truvativ is formed from 7050 aluminium and weighs in at 148g, lighter than most carbon stems and about right for the money. Performance-wise, it's nice and stiff, with a simple single-bolt clamp to fix it to your forks and a four-bolt fixing for your (oversize) bars. It's flippable with a good range of two rises and six lengths to choose from. The low-gloss black finish is stylish and the graphics are understated.
It's not particularly cheap compared to stems such as the Cinelli Vai at about half the price, but it's a good performer.
