Straitline’s Ultra Direct Mount stem comes beautifully CNC-machined from a lump of 6061 T6 aluminium and is designed to be clamped onto a RockShox Boxxer fork. However, most other modern dual crown forks will also accept it.
The finish is excellent, graphics subtle and the looks will no doubt pimp any rig it’s fixed to. We opted for the roomier 50mm length but there is a 28mm option available too, and both lengths take 31.8mm bar diameters, with 25.4mm reducers available.
The rise is slammed – in fact it’ll actually leave the bottom of your bars sitting flush with the top of the fork crown – so keeping the front end of your bike low isn't an issue here.
The clamping is solid and over some pretty heavy months of testing, it’s remained trouble – and flex – free. We found the steering snappy and the length spot-on. In terms of weight, the Straitline is as light as the best of them at 138g – but then it should be for such a high asking price.
