It's light and it looks good, but not exempt from criticism

Mortop might not be a name you’ve heard before, but given that this adjustable downhill stem weighs just 150g, you may want to pay attention.

An eccentric shim inside the bar clamp enables you to adjust the reach between 40mm and 43mm – or, if you prefer, the rise/drop by 3mm.

With no faceplate to remove, each side of the two-piece stem has to be slipped over the bar. This can cause problems if you have a bar with an extended central bulge. Once you've got the stem loosely in place, it’s a case of making sure the shims are positioned correctly before clamping the bolts up.

We had some issues with creaking during testing, but managed to quieten it down with a light coating of grease.

A fair amount of attention to detail has gone into the CNC machining of the stem, and it comes with a nicely machined combined headset spacer and top cap – a tidy touch to finish off your cockpit.
