This is a smooth, steady stem with a colour-coded clamp chip. The forged shaft and four-bolt front plate give a smooth, clean look at an average 178g for our 100mm version.
The cunning part is the inset Affix clamp, which is a seat-collar-style band. It’s a totally separate unit but is interlocked into the steering section of the stem.
We had our doubts about a single central clamp handling all the turning and bar-fighting work. But it actually feels solid and safe on the trail, even when we use super-wide 780mm bars to maximise leverage.
