Truvativ have introduced a new range of bars, from super-light cross-country to super-wide freeride. The Noir sits nicely in the middle, and should prove to be a popular high-performance all-rounder.
It's light (171g), but you still get a full 680mm span for steering stability. The bulge extends through the low-rise bend to keep strength and control feedback high, and the overall shape is great.
Grip tape and cross weave reinforcement in the centre keeps it safe and there’s loads of control space to work with, too, although the stiff feel can cause occasional buzz.
The Noir is relatively unproven, but Truvativ have taken their time developing the new range. We’ve had no worries in the two months we’ve had it, despite sticking it straight on our long-term Santa Cruz BLT to guarantee a proper beating. It may be light, but it’s also tough enough to play with the big boys.
Truvativ's Noir World Cup, the featherlight flagship of the new Noir bar family, gets a lower 15mm rise but the same big span for only 145g. It costs £30 more at £129.99.
