Despite its low price, the Trieste is a good-looking and very adjustable low-profile cockpit, but it’s certainly not light. The fat hydroformed alloy base bar with drooped wings down to the horns is impressively stiff when cornering and sprinting, and puts the rider’s weight low for confident grip. The smooth welded joints, gloss finish and grip tape centre give a carbon fibre look.
Multi-part block clamps look basic and contribute to the high weight, but they put the extensions well below bar level and give adjustment for length and tip angle. Four holes give three sideways positions, plus another eight angle-adjustable options on the armrest plates. Seriously upswept outer sections make it very secure when you’re in windy or twisty situations too. At nearly 900g it’s not for those concerned about weight though.
