Fibrax have been making aftermarket gear cables and disc brake pads for years. This new cable set comes with a stainless steel inner, which, Fibrax claim, resists rust for twice as long as any other cable.
This inner sits inside a low-friction sleeve that also comes with sealed ferrules (the end caps). The outer cable is a cosmetic but cool looking braided housing, available in silver or black colours, that nicely matches braided brake hoses.
Fitting the cables was easy, and they certainly improved the shifting compared to the no-name offerings they replaced. The sealed cable ends also reduced the amount of dirt getting in without increasing cable drag - and all for a very reasonable price.
