Our review
Sweet, slick low-profile shifting, once it’s all set up right

Unlike XTR, XT Shadow is the same excellent value as conventional XT, which also comes in low normal and high normal spring types, so you can have whatever style of shift you want.

Again Shadow is proving more difficult to set up initially than conventional mechs, but we reckon the hidden profile, lack of frame knock and slightly lighter weight make it the option to go for. Fluorine-coated pins and sealed cartridge bearing jockey wheels give it a slick, quiet shift, and we've properly ground and gouged some mechs in big alpine offs with no ill effects.
