If you want a strong chain then look no further than YBN's excellent MK9-S2 - it's designed for high-load applications. Make sure you fit it the right way up though because the links are directional.
Like Shimano chains, the YBN has to be joined using a special pin. You get a pin with a new chain and replacements are available. Every time you re-join the chain you should use a new pin, although we've had to re-join one out on the trail using the old pin and have suffered no problems yet.
