The Bling Ring from MRP is a very simple but effective one-piece spider and chain ring retrofit for SRAM GXP cranks.
Fitting couldn’t be easier: ease the chainset off the axle then whip out the three Torx holding your two- or three-ring spider onto the crank arm splines on the back of the crank. Take off the spider, slide the Bling Ring on in place and tighten the security bolts.
It’s not got particularly tall teeth, so a guide is a good idea, but the lack of ramps means it’s quiet and the hard anodised 7075 T6 alloy is wearing very well since we fitted it.
It looks way neater than any botched single ring on multi-ring spider setup we’ve used, and our 34-tooth ring saved 126g off an X9 double ring setup. It comes in 28-, 30-, 32-, 34- and 36-tooth sizes and fits all aftermarket SRAM/Truvativ GXP cranks and some original equipment ones such as SRAM S1400 and S2210. There’s a BB30 version on the way too.
The one-piece spider design does mean it costs more than comparable single ring retrofits, but that’s worth it if you’re watching weight.
