Bombproof single-crown impact-eater if you’re mental enough to need it

RockShox’s monster is still the ultimate huck fork. At just under 3kg the 40mm-legged Totem is as stiff steering and strong as most double crown downhill forks, but with all the barspin versatility of a single crown.

Even stiffer tapered steerer versions like our sample are a lot more readily available than last year too. The Boxxer-derived low- and high-speed compression adjustable Mission Control damping is excellent, particularly on the supersize hits this fork is built for.

The coil stroke is consistently plush (way better than the air Totem) once you’ve bedded the seals in for a few hours too. The Speedlube syringe injection helps keep them sweet on heavy use foreign trips and different weight springs, sag markers and sticker kits help you personalise your ride.
