Marzocchi’s 888 RC3 has the same new structure and RC3 damping as the top whack WC, but standard steel springs make it a freeride bargain.
The new beefier bottom end adds steering precision and a proper hose clamp. Extra metal does mean a high weight compared to others, which puts this fork in the freeride camp.
Plush early travel provides excellent traction, despite high and low speed compression damping being combined in a single knob (we’ve had no problem setting up a smooth, controlled stroke).
External adjustment of oil volume means you can control the final part of the travel easily, too.
The price is good – they’re only 100g heavier than the WCs but £450 cheaper.
