It might be simple, but the 36 VAN is one of the smoothest, toughest forks around. The whole 36 family lost weight this year and upgraded to a new twin latch quick release axle system so VAN is now lighter than most 160mm (6.3in) air forks but steering precision has remained superb.
The coil spring internals make maximum use of Fox’s new damping circuit tweaks to give consistent control however hard you work it. Factory compression settings are spot on 99 per cent of the time. We also love the fact you get spare soft and hard springs in the box.
Reliability of all 36s we’ve used recently has been flawless, so they’re top value despite their simplicity.
