Some stiction but a stiff and light fork whichever travel format you choose

Fox’s longest-travel single-crown gets the gold treatment to create a smooth and surprisingly light unit. The 180mm-travel (7.1in) fork isn’t just a stretched 160mm-travel unit either. The bushings get an extended overlap to increase stiffness.

The below-axle legs give the lowest ride height of any 7in fork and it’s also the lightest, at 2.39kg. The 160mm-travel version is even lighter at just over 2kg. The gold low-friction Kashima coating noticeably reduces stiction too, although it’s still not as plush as the competition, even after bedding in.

Multiple-hit damping from the FIT cartridge is extremely consistent and controlled though, and the fork-top adjusters are easy to reach. We’ve had no issues with any 36 Kashima FIT fork in six months’ brutal use, making it a great aggressive trail fork in either travel format.
