Shimano Tiagra ST-4500 STI levers review

Shimano Tiagra ST-4500 STI levers review

The left-hand lever is compatible with both double and triple chainset systems, and although there's no 'trim' position to stop the chain from rubbing when operating at an extreme angle, we didn't miss this facility.

Our review
Performance-wise, these punch way above their weight

These completely redesigned levers have a less flimsy appearance and fall to hand better than the old versions. The left-hand lever is compatible with both double and triple chainset systems, and although there's no 'trim' position to stop the chain from rubbing when operating at an extreme angle, we didn't miss this facility. Everything is easy to set up and wonderfully smooth to use and there are two sets of shims that can be added to the underside of the lever hood to improve reach for small hands. Built-in gear indicators on the leading edge of the levers are surprisingly effective.
