Expensive and not everyone loved the padding, but the best-fitting winter tights we’ve used

These multi-panel, harness-braced tights really are something special. Super-thin, flat bib strips create minimum bulk under layers. The double thickness cosy-back yoke branches into a single rear strap, before splitting into under and overarm ‘racer back’ braces.

The harness effect feels weird at first, but almost completely eliminates any bagginess around the front and the tights stay perfectly in place, even when yo-yoing in and out of the saddle on long climbs. The upper legs use a curving multipanel cut in contrasting colours to give a snug, but unrestrictive fit. Stretchy knee and lower legs end in long ankle zips with deep grippers to complete possibly the best-fitting tights we’ve used.

None of the fabric is proofed (get the £139.99 RH+ Adapto for that) so really hard rain and cold wind creeps through, but they dry fast and overall comfort levels are extremely good in all but the worst weather conditions. The big two-colour pad is great for long rides too, although was too wide for narrower-hipped testers.
