Our review
High-quality glasses that perform well on and off the bike, although the frame intrudes slightly on vision

Pros:

Great fit; superb lens quality; compact dimensions suit smaller faces

Cons:

Some frame intrusion in eyeline; condensation on the nosepiece when working hard

The Adidas SP0004s are multisport and unisex glasses from sports equipment giant Adidas.

With a photochromic lens as standard on this 26C 00 version, and multiple frame colours and lens options available, the SP0004 glasses offer plenty of choice. They're also available to be ordered with prescription lenses.

With a soft cleaning cloth and hard case supplied as standard, these compact sunglasses could be a great multisport option for many people.

The Adidas SP0004 26C 00 glasses I tested are priced at £126 / $125.

The Adidas glasses are compact, suiting those with smaller faces particularly well. - Warren Rossiter / Our Media

The one-piece wrap lens, at 134x50mm, is more compact than most.

It meets CAT3 safety standards, filtering out 75 per cent of light and offering 100 per cent UV protection. Adidas says the lens has a hydrophobic coating for all-weather use.

The full frame is designed to aid rigidity and there are smart details in the form of curved ear hooks and sprung arms.

The nose bridge is adjustable through three positions to suit a variety of face shapes, with pads made from a tacky rubber-like material.

The frame has vents across the brow, intended so that the close-fitting wrap shape doesn’t lead to fast fogging.

The SP0004’s full-frame design provides plenty of stiff rigidity to these very light 26.6g glasses.

With a bank of vents across the brow of the frame to resist fogging, they are well thought out for multi-sport use.

The brow venting does a good job of keeping fog at bay, although I did get a little condensation at the side of the adjustable nosepieces.

There’s plenty of sprung tension in the arms, which when combined with the curved ear hook ends, makes the SP0004 glasses a very firm fit.

Thanks to the three-position adjustable nose bridge, I could get a secure fit that worked for rough gravel and mountain bike rides, as well as on the road.

The photochromic darkening action is rapid, with a light blue-grey tint.

Clarity is excellent, with no distortion at the lens edges, which can sometimes occur with transitioning lenses.

The transparent frame is noticeable at the extremes of your vision, but I didn’t find it distracting while riding.

They're well suited to multi-terrain cycling and other sports. - Warren Rossiter / Our Media

Even with the very low 26.6g weight, the Adidas SP0004s are among the best cycling glasses for all conditions and terrain.

The relatively compact shape is better suited to smaller faces and the styling means they work both on the bike and away from it.

The good fit and great grip make the Adidas glasses a good companion for multi-sport use, too.
