Our review
Great value kit that provides superb performance with safety features, too

Pros:

Warm fabric; great visibility; well-made

Cons:

Bold stripy design is… not for everyone

British brand Stolen Goat has brought out some great-looking cycling kit that doesn’t skimp on technical fabrics and details, and won’t hammer you on price.

The Raggamuffin 20 Orkaan Jersey is made from a thick, warm, Roubaix-like fabric called Tempest that offers water resistance (for light showers only) and some wind resistance too. The jersey is sufficient in single-digit centigrade temperatures with its fleecy lining.

The cut is form-fitting without being overly tight and the arm length is ideal on the bike because it doesn’t creep up. It features highly elastic 7cm-deep cuffs that hold in place and slip over winter gloves easily. The collar is 5cm deep and the full-length zip slots into a garage to prevent irritation.

On the back, the length is cut a little longer so it sits in place when riding. There are three rear pockets with a fourth waterproof, zipped security pocket built in. The whole of the pocket section is covered with a transparent fabric called Pixel 100 that has a highly reflective dot-matrix pattern, which shines incredibly brightly in low light.

The matching Orkaan 3/4 Length Tights use the same fleeced Tempest fabric as the jersey and exhibit similar water-resisting and wind-stopping qualities.

The bib braces are broad, they sit flat and meet in a Y-shaped back. The back section is fleece-lined, as are the legs of the tights: ideal for cooler days on the bike.

The endurance-style pad is deeply padded and comfortable. I’ve used these 3/4 bibs on the road and on rough gravel rides. The ‘shorts’ section extends way beyond the waist and sits just below your rib cage providing vital warmth and stability to your core.

I like that Stolen Goat has opted for a highly elasticated cuff, rather than silicone grippers, because they don’t slip or ride up even when you’re wet through.

These 3/4 lengths also have a large Pixel 100 panel on the rear, which adds further superb rear visibility to comfort and performance.
