The Fjord shorts keep more of your body warm by being longer and higher cut than most three-quarter bibs. Their fleece-backed fabric starts almost halfway down your shin and extends nearly halfway to your nipples.
It feels odd to have shorts come up this high but the extra warmth is welcome (although their height does mean answering calls of nature requires some contortionism).
Saddle support and cushioning is provided by Madison’s ample Deluxe pad, and overall comfort is great, although horizontal seams behind the knees can irritate after a while.
