Velocio’s endurance-focused bib shorts, the silky soft LUXE bibs, redefine what women’s bibs should be like.
Featuring Velocio’s genius FlyFree design for simple and easy toilet breaks without complicating the bibs’ function, this really puts the LUXE bibs in a league of their own.
A sleek and minimal aesthetic rounds off the shorts, with raw-cut leg hems and subtle branding for a really stylish, top-end option.
Velocio Women’s LUXE Bib Short specifications and details
Topping out the budget, these super-soft bib shorts are made from a compressive polyamide/elastane blend and, with some nifty features, really do sit at the premium end of the bib market.
The leg grippers have been updated for this iteration of the LUXE, with a raw-cut leg finish backed by dashed silicone detail.
Wide, highly elasticated bib straps are joined across the chest by a stretchy mesh panel and cross on the back to give the FlyFree design, which you simply pull down at the back for easy loo breaks without having to undress.
The women’s-specific chamois was developed by Velocio in tandem with Elastic Interface and is optimised for long days in the saddle.
Branding is minimal, with small reflective logos on the high-gauge matte finish fabric. The bibs are also available in four other colourways, including black, khaki, cherry and teal.
Velocio Women’s LUXE Bib Short performance
True to their name, the LUXE bib shorts really are delightfully soft and give a close, compressive fit that’s typical of high-end kit.
Sizing is spot on and made simple thanks to Velocio’s extensive online guides for choosing your fit. Velocio is also one of the few brands that offer such a wide size range, which is great to see.
The new raw-cut leg hem is neat, with dashed silicone grippers that do the job of keeping them in place without any irritation, even after a day in the saddle.
Two other features really set these apart from other bibs: the mesh chest panel and FlyFree design.
This mesh front panel stops bugs and dirt going down your front, but also gives some modesty when it's really hot, so you can unzip a jersey and still be partially covered, just as you would with a baselayer.
The elasticated, crossed bib straps and gathered fabric to the rear mean you can easily take a loo break without having to undress.
This feature is especially handy for longer rides and one that it’s hard to go without once you get used to having it.
As you’d expect at this price point, the chamois is extremely comfortable, even after all-day rides over rougher terrain.
Velocio Women’s LUXE Bib Short bottom line
These are truly luxurious bib shorts with a price to match, but perhaps worth it for the supreme comfort and neat features they offer.
How we tested
We put seven pairs of women's cycling bib shorts to the test to find out which perform best.
Each set of bibs was tested over road and gravel paths with a focus on fit, chamois and strap comfort, fabric choice, breathability and any other features, such as dealing with comfort breaks, as well as value for money.
