Fizik’s Link system matches your flexibility with its shorts, and can also match them with one of its saddles. The Link 3 bib shorts are Fizik's performance shorts but a race version, the R1 is also available, priced £250 / $300 / €275.

Fizik has its own app that looks at rider flexibility and hip movement to help find which of its three styles (Snake, Chameleon or Bull) will work best.

My Snake model, which are designed to be paired with Fizik’s Arione saddle, are cleverly cut using as few seams as possible and aren’t overly tight, yet still offer a supportive ride.

The upper bibs and unique rear panel construction stop any bunching around the glutes and offer further support. The front is also cut lower in tune with a flexible rider.

Inside, the seamless chamois is wide and feels odd at first, but once in the saddle is forgiving, especially on long rides.

Overall the R3 provides a quality fit and classy ride but they’re not cheap.
